Lewis Hamilton takes the British Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton won his third British Grand Prix in a thrilling race at Silverstone that was the perfect antidote to criticism that Formula One had become boring.
Hamilton, who temporarily slipped from pole position into third place before fighting back, timed his switch to intermediate tyres to perfection when the rain started to fall in the closing laps.
His victory over Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg helped him extend his lead over his closest challenger in the world drivers' championship to 17 points.

It also enabled him to join Jim Clark (five) and Nigel Mansell (four) as the only British drivers to have won a hat-trick of home Grands Prix.
