He’s a converted winger so in that sense yes. In many ways Alves never really stopped playing like a winger for Barcelona and Vidal’s job description will be very similar. He’ll form part of Barça’s back four when they don’t have the ball but he will be expected to play outside right when they are attacking and Lionel Messi makes those diagonal runs from the right into the penalty area.
