Belgian player Gregory Mertens has died three days after suffering a cardiac arrest playing in a reserve match for Sporting Lokeren.
Mertens, who represented Belgium at Under 21 level, collapsed after 15 minutes of Lokeren's match with Genk on Monday.
The 24-year-old received CPR on the pitch and was placed on a life support machine in hospital but sadly passed away on Thursday afternoon.
