Manchester City have always loved an embarrassment of riches in the striking department and have not been afraid to splash the cash either.
But for all the millions spent, not every forward has done the business. Some of the transfer fees have been disputed since, but since 2008, when Robinho and Jo were signed, City have spent around £300million - the exact figure is £296m- in six-and-a-half years.
Sportsmail runs the rule over the big-name recruits and judges how they did in a blue shirt.
Robinho arrived from real madrid for. £32.5m. City pipped Chelsea to the signing from Real Madrid on the last day of the transfer window. The Brazilian embarrassingly told a press conference he was delighted to sign for Chelsea. Made up for it with a superb first season, finishing top club scorer with 14. Injury hit after that and went to Santos on loan before £15million move to AC Milan. Proved City could tempt marquee signings.
Jo arrived from CSKA Moscow for £18m.
The Brazilian was just 21 when he arrived from CSKA Moscow for what was an undisclosed record fee. Either way the striker was a disaster zone. One League goal and farmed out on loan to Everton before going home to Internacional.
CARLOS TEVEZ (£47m, July 2009-June 2013, 74 goals)
A spicy move across the city meant that the Argentine was under pressure to perform from the start and he duly delivered. He became the second fastest City player to score 50 goals (73 games) and had scored 59 Premier League goals by the time he moved to Juventus for just £12m. Fans loved him even though he had a tendency to fall out with manager and club.
ROQUE SANTA-CRUZ (£17.5m, July 2009-July 2013, 4 goals)
Arrived from Blackburn but the Paraguayan was never more than a bit part. He only made six Premier League starts and 20 appearances in total. He was allowed to go out on loan and was released on a free to Malaga.
EDIN DZEKO (£27m, July 2011- ?, 70 goals)
Roberto Mancini recruited the Bosnian from Wolfsburg and he has turned out to be a stalwart in the striking department. Has a reputation for being more influential off the bench, which is why he has had 69 Premier League starts out of 119 appearances. Had to carry the load this season too.
MARIO BALOTELLI (£24m, August 2010-January 2013)
So where do you start with the Italian, who came from Inter Milan and made headlines from the start, unfortunately many of them for the wrong reason. Gifted – voted man of the match when City won the FA Cup and destroyed Aston Villa with a hat-trick. But off-pitch antics and an appalling disciplinary record pushed the club to palm him off to AC Milan for £19m.
SERGIO AGUERO (£38m, July 2011- ?, 94 goals)
Take away the dodgy hamstrings and it is difficult to find fault with the little Argentine. Still only 26, the striker who came from Atletico Madrid has produced the goods on the pitch. Will always be remembered for the injury-time winner against QPR which delivered City their first League title in 44 years. Has found the net 66 times in the Premier League.
STEFAN JOVETIC (£22m, July 2013 -?, 11 goals)
The striker from Montenegro and signed from Fiorentina probably deserves a sympathy vote. Regarded as a back-up option but has eight Premier League goals from 11 starts. Difficult to star from the subs’ bench and likely to be the player who makes way for new boy Bony. Still only 25.
ALVARO NEGREDO (£20m, July 3013 -?, 23 goals)
Never really more than a bit-part player despite the big-money move from Seville. Allowed to go on loan to Valencia this season, a decision which has been criticised following City’s striker injury crisis. Always in the shadow of his team-mates.
WILFRIED BONY (£25m, January 2015 - ?)
The striker from the Ivory Coast has all the attributes to succeed at Eastlands but he faces tough competition. Will have to accept that Sergio Aguero, when fit, is the main main.
